Ever since I learned the best music site on the internet is being acquired by Pandora, I’ve been sick about losing the amazing Christmas playlist that I’ve been carefully curating for years. Thankfully, Rdio and Spotify have made it really easy to export and re-import my playlists. Here’s how to do it.

If you’re an Rdio user head to rdio.com/farewell where you’ll get the nice message above as well as a timeline with some of your greatest hits, as they were.

After spending a few minutes reminiscing (M83!), you can export your data, which will be neatly organized in four folders.

Best of all, you’ll get the information in four different file formats, and Rdio explains exactly what you’re getting and how to use the data.

After choosing to download my account, I opened a folder with my username on my desktop and there it was! Christmasmegamix!

Then I headed over to Spotify, where they have a dedicated Rdio importer tool just waiting for my playlists. I compressed the Playlists folder into a .zip file and then I dragged it into the window.

If you’re a first-time Spotify user you’ll have to create an account at this point and download the app. But once you do, all your playlists should show up.
