iTunes running on OS X is pretty fantastic. But on a PC, the experience often suffers. Lifehacker points us to a way to install iTunes 8 without Apple’s extra programs on the side.

Not to spoil the suspense, but you’ll need to use a custom iTunes 8 installer that removes Quicktime, Bonjour and iTunesHelper from the install package.

To get iTunes working without Quicktime, you’ll also need to download Quicktime Alternative and the QuickTime Alternative iTunes Add-on. Technically, these apps need to be installed prior to installing the special version of iTunes.

If anyone gives the process a shot, let us know how it worked in the comments.[MSFN via Lifehacker]
