The follow-up to 2025’s iPhone Air may very well be Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever (again). Korean blogger “yeux1122” claims (machine translated) that the iPhone Air 2 will be about 5.2mm thick, a 0.4mm reduction in size from the original iPhone Air. This size would put it on par with the iPhone Duo’s thickness when it’s unfolded.
That 7% reduction in thickness might not seem like much, but even minute changes like this are evident in a phone’s hand-feel, especially when you’re buying a smartphone whose entire reason for existence is how skinny it is. For reference, the iPhone 18 Pro is 8.75mm thick.
We’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out whether or not the iPhone Air 2 is actually as thin as the unfolded iPhone Duo; it’s not expected to launch until early next year. It’ll most likely be released alongside the base iPhone 18 model (which was notably missing from this year’s Apple Event) and, perhaps, a budget iPhone 18e.

Other details of what we might expect from the iPhone Air 2 are pretty scarce, though we do have some rumors to work off of. Well-known leaker Jon Prosser dropped a video back in July that claimed the iPhone Air 2 would include both a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera and a regular-lens 48-megapixel camera. This alone would be a marked upgrade from the first iPhone Air, which only included a single camera. Prosser says Apple will redesign the iPhone Air 2’s Face ID camera to fit this extra lens in.
Battery life is also expected to be better on the next-gen iPhone Air. Prosser says the smartphone will utilize an A20 Pro chip for better efficiency, leading to improved battery life that’s “nothing dramatic, but definitely noticeable.” Another leak soon after Prosser’s posited that the iPhone Air 2 will have a 3,500mAh battery, an 11% increase in capacity from the original Air’s 3,149mAh battery.
Prosser also expects the iPhone Air 2 to use the same titanium midframe as the original, with an updated lavender color replacing the current Sky Blue variety. A big remaining question here is price: will it launch at an increased $100 MSRP like most other iPhones are, now? Let’s just say it seems very much within the realm of possibility.
