Kim Jong-un Airbrushes “Traitor” Uncle From Official Documentary

Given his long, illustrious career as the world’s premier totalitarian Photoshop expert, it should come as no surprise that, after sentencing his own uncle to execution, Kim Jong Un has ordered that the rumored counter-revolutionary be airbrushed out of a state-sponsored documentary.

Reports of Jang Song Thaek’s death came late last week, which means that the regime has wasted precious little time in purging Jang Song Thaek, Kim’s Uncle, from matters of public record—removing any mention of him from the state-run KCNA website being just one example. As The Telegraph uncovered, a documentary that had appeared as an official North Korean TV broadcast showed the uncle on October 28, but when it re-aired recently, all traces of Jang had vanished.

What does it take to merit such a thorough wiping from North Korean history? Well in the case of Jang, accusations included the following:

Jang pretended to uphold the party and leader but was engrossed in such factional acts as dreaming different dreams and involving himself in double-dealing behind the scene.
