I had previously though light-up keyboards to be nothing but a gimmick. Probably because they are. A new keyboard from Japanese vendor Century, the “Le Grand Bleu,” has an honest-to-god practical use—the first light-up keyboard whose number pad will light up in response to incoming calls and phones when a cell phone is nearby. While of course the whole keyboard can light up with the flick of a switch, only the number pad will respond to incoming calls and mail. This would be particularly convenient for a person like myself, who always wears headphones while at the PC and really never notices when someone is trying to get in contact with them.
Alright, it’s still a gimmick. But now only 95% gimmick. Akiba PC Hotline has more pics and even a video of the keyboard in action.
