The Wrap is reporting that Tripp Vinson, producer of The Exorcism of Emily Rose brought writer Peter Gaffney's original script to Lionsgate, and it sounds like we might get to see this sandy science fiction movie sooner rather than later.

The project first surfaced at Adam Rodin's annual feature contest, and here's the official synopsis from the website:

Over the Mojave Desert, an alien ship the size of the Chrysler building falls from the sky. Exhibiting no signs of life or communication, a team of brave, possibly insane, individuals must venture inside on a mission that could be mankind's greatest discovery - or gruesome death. What they will find is a power beyond their understanding, wonderous and extremely dangerous, one that will change them forever.
