A recent pact between Microsoft and CableLabs is a good thing for those of you hankering to watch TV on your Media PC. Looks like you’ll now be able to display digital cable—both standard and high definition—without the help of a set-top box. Though Microsoft has offered HDTV support since last year, the deal will now allow PC makers to include a slot for a CableCard, like many digital TV sets. Unfortunately, the communication is only one-way, so don’t expect extras like pay-per-view or on-demand.
