Megan Fox's cover interview in this week's Entertainment Weekly took our breath away. Admitting that her Transformers 2 role consists of two things: 1) running and 2) screaming, the famously outspoken star says her debut performance in Transformers was "terrible."
Fox is pretty brazen about saying Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen won't be a great movie, but it'll be a decent popcorn action film. "The humans are secondary to the robots because it's a movie about robots... People are well aware that this is not a movie about acting. And once you realize that, it becomes almost fun because you can be in the moment and go, 'All right, I know that when he calls Action! I'm either going to be running or screaming, or both.'"
In a nutshell, unless you're a veteran actor, you just sort of get overshadowed by the giant robots and explosions, and you don't get much of a chance to give a real performance, says Fox. And then afterwards, the special effects people come in and make it all look cool. You hope.
But it's easy to get overpowered by the massive robots stomping overhead:
After reading this interview, I'm actually kind of hoping that Fox gets offered a huge female action hero role, maybe even Buffy or Wonder Woman, just because she comes across as being sort of a female Chris Pine. She's brash and sarcastic, but not terribly introspective — which might make her the perfect successor to Milla Jovovich and Angelina Jolie. Asked whether she might ever do a movie like Monster, she says that she's psychotic and fucked up enough that something interesting might result.
My favorite part of the interview is where she talks about how Michael Bay paid her $600 to get wet when she was 15 years old:
What was it like the first time you worked with him?
I was actually an extra on "Bad Boys II" (in 2003). There's a club scene, and I was one of the club kids. I was in a stars-and-stripes bikini and a cowboy hat, dancing under a waterfall.Wait, what?
Yeah, I was still in ninth grade. I liked it at the time, because I was getting out of school. So I was like, F—- yeah, I don't care! And I got paid extra because if you allow them to put water on you, you get paid extra. I got probably $600.How did you feel about being sexualized like that when you were 15?
I thought it was awesome. I was going to a Christian high school and I wasn't a feminist yet. I hadn't sat back and analyzed society yet. I was 15! I just did what I was told to do.
