Netflix Isn't So Sure We'll See AKA Jessica Jones In 2015

In December, it was announced that Krysten Ritter would be playing Jessica Jones in the Netflix series based around that character. And in Marvel's official press release, the show is said to be premiering this year. But a recent article in USA Today says the Netflix shows will be released a year apart from one another. So what's the deal?

Well, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos did confirm the "year apart" thing to IGN, saying:

You should think of it about as roughly a year. Some will roll in as early as eight months and others in 15 months apart, and basically what it is is we're not trying to meet a fall programming schedule or trying to hit a grid number, so really we want to give the shows enough time.

Jessica Jones hasn't started production yet, so a lot happens from the first day on the set to the last day of production. So we want to give them enough room and enough time to make a great show, so I don't want to set up a rigid timetable and deliver a show every eight months or every twelve months, but you should expect them about a year apart.

And yet, he refused to say definitively that AKA Jessica Jones will come out in 2016, answering that question with "It's too hard to say now."

Really, it always seemed kind of unlikely that Jessica Jones, which didn't have a star until last month, would follow that close on the heels of Daredevil. Daredevil just announced a release date of April 10th, and it started filming in the summer. Assuming the same production time, the best case scenario has AKA Jessica Jones coming out in late 2015. Even Sarandos' "early" interval of eight months puts the second Marvel Netflix show as coming out in early 2016.

And I'd place my bets on Jessica Jones and Luke Cage's shows being the ones released closest together, since those productions appear to be running pretty close together, casting their stars at roughly the same time (which makes total sense for those characters). So really, don't be surprised if we hear AKA Jessica Jones won't make that 2015 date after all.

Sad but understandable. I prefer waiting than getting a rushed mess. Maybe I'll have time to read the comics. Anybody knows if they are on Marvel unlimited? I am seriously considering a subscription
