Out of seemingly nowhere emerges the Nikon Coolpix S1, obviously a stab at recent offerings from Casio and Sony (think Exilim and Cybershot T series). But gee whiz, I had no idea a Nikon could look anything like this — it has a 5.1MP CCD and 0.75″ thick aluminum body. Estimated at around 45,000 yen, the S1 provides 3x optical zoom, a boatload of photographic features I’m having a hard time translating like “Face Clear Function”, a 2.5″ monitor and SD memory card slot. Expect to see the S1 available in three colors: Metal Silver, Dolce Black and Cream White.
