Good news, fans of Blizzard’s absurdly entertaining superhero-esque shooter Overwatch! The game’s making the move to physical comics next year, with the arrival of a new graphic novel that delves into the history of the Overwatch universe from Dark Horse.
The currently untitled graphic novel, written by Blizzard writer Andrew Robinson and with art from Adventures of Supergirl’s Bengal, will follow the original members of the Overwatch organization— ack Morrison (better known in the game as Soldier: 76), Gabriel Reyes (now Reaper), Reinhardt, Torbjorn, and recent addition to the game Ana Amari—as they band together and fight off a rebellion of A.I. constructs known as Omnics, a major and mostly unexplored event from the game’s background dubbed “The Omnic Crisis.”
This isn’t the first time Overwatch has dipped its toes into comics—Blizzard has released several digital comics to flesh out the backstory of the game’s stars since it released—but it’s nice to see the world behind the game slowly being fleshed out more and more.
Dark Horse’s Overwatch graphic novel will release in Spring 2017.
