Just as expected, the official Mattel Back to the Future hoverboard made infamous by Marty McFly is now available for pre-order. The hoverboard only costs $120 and actually comes with a hoverboard scaled for 6-inch action figures too. That’s a steal in my BTTF-loving book.

Yup, I already pre-ordered and if you claim to love Back to the Future and/or technology, you should totally do it too. Remember, Mattel will only make these official hoverboards if they “receive a minimum order”, so we all need to pitch in to make this happen. People, it’s the BTTF hoverboard. Stop asking questions and just click pre-order already.
The 1:1 hoverboard replica measures 28″ x 8″ x 3″ and comes with “authentic ‘whooshing’ sounds sampled directly from the films” and though it doesn’t hover, it’ll “glide” over most surfaces (which I take to mean it can be pushed across the floor). Pre-orders for the hoverboard runs from March 1st to March 20th with an expected to ship date in November or December 2012. I can’t think of a better Christmas gift for myself.
