Pretec announced the 133x, a 4GB Compact Flash (CF) card the company claims can read data at 20MBps and write at 14MBps. Pretec boasts that it’s the fastest CF card in the world, and 50% faster than its predecessor, the 80x. The 133x will begin shipping in late March, but no price was announced.
Pricing is crucial, because if Pretec can beat the $280 announced price of the 4GB SanDisk Extreme III CF card (available now) that’s capable of similar read and write speeds, it might really have something here.
