Scenes from the Cyborg Forest, where animals make up for their shortcomings with technology

What do you do if you’re a soft-voiced wolf, a raccoon who can’t see in the dark, or a duck who has trouble flying? In this photo series, the answer is simple: strap a machine to your body and let it do the work.

David Emmite created this photo series, where technology stands in for animals’ natural adaptations: the stinkifying powers of the skunks, a squirrel’s innate nutcracking, a wolf’s powerful howl. I can only assume that the halo is a stand-in for the angelic appearance of deer that keeps some people from picking up a rifle. Either that, or it’s a macabre nod to Bambi’s mom.
