Photographer Owen Silverwood snapped photos of these model NASA spacecraft launching underwater. Titled "Inner Space," the cloud these rockets kick up while lifting off captures some of the awe you'd feel while watching a real launch. [Owen Silverwood via Neatorama]
Hahah. Clever, but.... no.
I was lucky enough to secure launch tickets for STS133 and witness Discovery's final launch with my own eyes.
The blast from the SRB's is searingly bright; no photo I've ever seen did the real thing justice.
It's literally like looking at a streaming tail of fire as bright as the sun. I had to blink a few times during initial ascent because my brain would overcompensate and close my iris too much due to the intense light. (which made the full stack seem to disappear in my vision)
I'll give the photographer points for creativity... that's about all. =)
