Sick of anthropomorphic bots grabbing the spotlight? Then meet RollBots, a superkinetic new CG animated series about roly-poly robocops and robbers, coming to the U.S. (from Canada) in February. Think of it, visually, as a cross between Speed Racer and Pokémon…then imbued with edgier metaphors. No, really! Creator Michael Milligan tells io9: “It’s aimed at kids 6–11, but there are definitely themes and subtexts that older viewers would appreciate.” In particular: a loner ’bot who works a law-enforcement beat, thwarting the misdeeds of sundry rapscallions around town.
