You got your evil cyborg T-800s with their metal skulls from the first Terminator movie, then you have the liquid metal T-1000s of Terminator 2 and 3. But this new Genisys TV spot appears to showcase a new Terminator model that young Sarah Connor and her elderly reprogrammed T-800 will have to deal with.
Watch it here (you can see the first glimpse of J.K. Simmons' character, too):
Did you catch it?
A badass skeleton-faced robot made of partially liquified metal? Yes please. It looks like the model in-between the T-800 and T-1000 — I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that it's going to be a T-900, and that it only has part of the shape-shifting abilities of the later T-1000s. (Note: Resident Terminator nerd Meredith Woerner has informed me a T-900 showed up briefly in Terminator 3, and thus this new cyborg should in fact probably be identified as a T-950. I am sorry for any inconvenience or anguish my error may have caused you.) I'm also going to guess that this guy is the character Matt Smith will be playing, seeing as he hasn't shown up anywhere else yet despite being credited as one of the movie's stars.
