For some publications, the two-week period that encompasses Christmas and New Year’s is a dead zone. There’s no news. Everyone is on vacation. The content spigot sputters and spurts until it freezes over entirely. There is no more content.
Not so here at Gizmodo. While writers and editors at other websites were commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, or using said event as an excuse to engage in heavy drinking and excessive eating, or just watching some fucking shows because whatever I hate my job and everyone else is on vacation anyways, the dedicated team at Gizmodo was writing lists summing up our previous year of coverage.
And what a year it was! Robots got weirder. Gadgets got cooler. The internet got less sucky. YouTube reviews of Quiznos sandwiches occurred. Apple whiffed pretty hard on multiple occasions. And enough time capsules were opened that it was possible to select the ten best from a larger pool of candidates.
