Having been labeled as male both online and on their packaging, the Jurassic World dinosaur figures have been correctly relabeled as girls (at least online). Hasbro says the gender swap was “an oversight” and not an egregious, deliberate change, which may or may not be true.
Given the toy industry’s track record, I don’t think it was inappropriate to suspect the worst here. Also, even if this was some poor copywriter who made an unfortunate assumption that the Jurassic World dinos were “he” and not “she”—or even “it”—it’s worth noting that somehow this error made it through months of corporate scrutiny to not only get all the way to the toy packaging… and was only fixed online after the internet raised a stink about it.
