Deadline reports Alicia Silverstone and Tim Heidecker are the latest to join the cast of Benny Safdie’s film adaptation of Daniel Pinkwater’s Lizard Music in currently undisclosed roles.
The Punisher/The MCU
During a recent interview with Comic Book, Jon Bernthal stated he believes “its possible” the Punisher could receive his less practical, but more comic book-accurate costume (with the white gloves and boots) in a future Marvel project following his appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
I think it’s possible, man. I really do. It’s been really important to me that… we don’t ask the audience to take huge leaps with Frank. That not all of a sudden he’s doing something that we wonder, ‘Well how did he get there?’ Kind of earn it right in front of the folks that care about him.
I know that we lean really heavily into things that are tactically proficient. He is not a guy with super powers. He’s just highly trained. And I think it’s been so much fun to incorporate Colton Hill, green beret, Nick Koumalatsos, marine raider, Cody Alford. These guys are just key in designing every bit of gear that Frank utilizes, and that’s been really cool to just involve the special forces community.

Resident Evil
During a recent interview with /Film, Zach Cregger revealed Resident Evil star Austin Abrams “would’ve died” had he been “one step to the right” while filming a scene with an exploding dummy.
It’s in the trailer momentarily, but [Austin Abrams is] running down the street, and there’s zombies on the roof of the buildings on either side, and they’re all leaping at him. And so, we had to basically design this thing where he’s just running and bodies are just falling and detonating all around him. And I knew I didn’t want to do it with VFX because I feel like it would just look like VFX. So, I was like, ‘How do we do this where all these explosions are real?’
It would’ve killed him. If he had been one step to the right, he would’ve died. [The shot is] in the movie, so it’s f***ing worth it. I was pretty stunned […] That’s what’s so great about making movies is you have this scene, you have this amazing idea in your head, and then you just have all these people help you realize that idea and immortalize it on the screen. And there’s a real sense of teamwork and accomplishment. I’m very proud of this movie. I feel like I grew a lot making it, just as a filmmaker.

Deadline reports Matthew Needham (House of the Dragon, Doctor Who) will voice the Joker in the new season of Batman: Caped Crusader.
Stewie
Deadline also reports Kenan Thompson, Vanessa Bayer, Melissa O’Neil, Mike Henry, Aaron Lee, and Jessica Lowe have joined the voice cast of Stewie, the time-traveling Family Guy spinoff in which the “evil-genius toddler” begins “rolling out his trusty array of devices” to take his new preschool class “anywhere in space and time, turning every boring day at school into an insane and unforgettable adventure.”
Parasyte: TAMIYA
Bloody-Disgusting reports Netflix has re-teamed with Yeon Sang-ho on a new live-action Parasyte TV series. Shioli Kutsuna will star as Ryoko Tamiya, “a very levelheaded and ‘human’ parasite who begins to question how, or if, parasites and humans can coexist. Seen through Tamiya’s eyes, the world of Parasyte becomes a lens on survival, identity and what it really means to be human.” Kutsuna will play the role three ways: in her human form, as “the supposedly violent parasite, and as the parasite who struggles to coexist with humans.”
Xena: Warrior Princess
In a recent Instagram post, Lucy Lawless discussed the canceled Xena reboot from Javier Grillo-Marxuach and what she’d like for the character in a new film as opposed to a TV series.
In my opinion, it would have been far more interesting to make a full-length feature film exploring Xena’s past. I would have loved to see her childhood, her birth, her family, her life in Amphipolis, her first hardships, the loss of her brother, and the events that gradually shaped her character and ultimately led her down the dark path of becoming a ruthless warrior.
A film like this could have explored Xena’s character in much greater depth and answered many questions that were only briefly touched upon in the series. We could have seen what truly broke her, why she became such a feared warrior, and how the legend of Xena began long before her journey toward redemption.
Power Rangers
Meanwhile, the Power Rangers reboot at Disney+ is still in “active development” according to Hasbro at San Diego Comic-Con.
