The Walking Dead Spin-Off Will Take a Bite Out Of LA

The rumors are true: the as-yet untitled Walking Dead spinoff has set its sights on Los Angeles.

That said, as Entertainment Weekly points out,

Just because the setting is Los Angeles doesn’t guarantee it will be shot there. AMC, which had no comment, is still casting the pilot written by Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson. So far Cliff Curtis (Sunshine), Frank Dillane (who played Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Storm) have signed on.

The TVLine piece has even more intel:

AMC promised that TWD: 2.0 will shed light on a previously unseen corner of the zombie apocalypse — perhaps one where the living outnumber the undead. “Almost from the beginning of The Walking Dead (which is set in Atlanta), fans have been curious about what is going on in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world,” AMC President Charlie Collier said in September.

As TVLine previously reported, there’s buzz that the offshoot — penned by showrunner Dave Erickson and TWD creator Robert Kirkman — will be a prequel of sorts, one that would chronicle the early days of the epidemic and the effort to contain it.

(Insert your own “L.A. is already full of zombies” joke here.)
