In the opening scene of Frozen, burly ice cutters sing a burly song about ice cutting. But, since the advent of refrigeration technology, ice cutters are no longer needed. An Imgur user has shared some amazing historical photos of other odd jobs that have gone extinct.
Some of these jobs you can likely figure out on your own: such as bowling alley pinsetters and switchboard operators. But, before you take a look at the complete list, can you guess the jobs that were performed by “knocker-uppers,” “lectors,” and “resurrectionists”? And, what the hell is the guy in the above photo doing?
Note: The list that appears on Imgur actually goes up to 11 (I’ve always wanted to type that phrase in an article), but there’s one mistake. Although milkmen are not as common as they used to be, they’re not yet extinct.
