The idea that the current Zika epidemic stems from samples taken from the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) is a special brand of paranoia. Yes, the ATCC has known pathogenic samples in its biological culture collection, and yes, Zika virus is one of them, and YES, scientists can request access to these specimens for research purposes. But it isn’t exactly like ordering a pizza. If you put in a request for any specimens that are even mildly pathogenic, you need to show a lot of credentials, and you need to back those up with legal documents signed by representatives of your research institution.

Then again—can we really trust any organization associated with the man who sank the Titanic?

Population Control / Vaccines / Bill Gates

Of course population control—why else would the virus’ main victim be pregnant women? And what better way to cull the sheeple than with vaccines?

There are a few different versions of this theory out there, and it’s all a bit nebulous. But here are some “facts” I’ve managed to glean through my “research”:

I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

UPDATE 2/16/16: Another scientifically bogus, Zika-inspired theory is sweeping the internet, my friends. Turns out, the birth defect microcephaly isn’t, and never was, being caused by a virus. That’s just what Big Ag wants you to think, as it continues to dump deadly chemicals into your drinking water. Wake up, sheeple!

That, at least, is the foregone conclusion of an informative new report by the “Physicians in Crop Sprayed Villages,” who claim that microcephaly—which the World Health Organization has tentatively linked to Zika virus—is in fact being caused by the chemical larvicide pyroproxyfen. This may sound rather alarming, until you learn that the supposed physicians behind the report are an anti-GMO activism group.

Already, many objective medical professionals (Monsanto shills??!) have come forth to debunk the claim, explaining that pyroproxyfen has extremely low toxicity in vertebrates. But props to the activists for capitalizing on an international health scare to promote their agenda. That takes some gall.
