Netflix and Tsuburaya have teamed up to bring Ultraman to the world of animation once more—with a slick new look and a wild twist: this time the Giant of Light has to look after a monster, instead of simply beating them up.

As part of its latest “Geeked Week” celebrations, Netflix has released the first trailer for Ultraman Rising. Directed by Shannon Tindle and John Aoshima, Rising follows a new Ultrahero—rising baseball star Ken Sato, who returns home to Japan to take on the mantle of Ultraman while furthering his sporting career. But things go sideways when one of Ultraman’s greatest foes strikes… and leaves Ken with a growing Kaiju baby to look after.

Starring Christopher Sean as Sato, alongside Gedde Watanabe, Tamlyn Tomita, Keone Young, and Julia Harriman, Ultraman Rising is set to hit Netflix sometime in 2024. Click through to see a few more pictures from the film!
