If you see a light saber, you can hear the glowing sound it makes. If you see C-3P0 or R2-D2 or Chewie, you can automatically hear them even if they’re not talking. Vader? Yeah, you hear the breathing. And that goes for X-Wings and Tie Fighters and everything else, the sounds of Star Wars are so iconic you don’t even have to hear them again to hear them.

Rishi Kaneria, who put together the video, writes:

In 1977, with the release of “Star Wars: A New Hope,” Ben Burtt introduced a new lexicon of sounds into our aural vocabulary.

This video is a celebration of those iconic sounds that have been rattling around my head since childhood and that have since become ingrained in our collective pop culture psyche.

It is also a celebration of Ben Burtt’s genius.
