Aimed squarely at the Canon PowerShot SD700 and the rest of its ilk, Voigtlander makes a run at the compact digital camera market with its 8.1-megapixel Virtus D8, packing a 3x optical zoom and a 2.5-inch LCD display into its small form factor.

The feature list is pretty much standard for digital cameras of this category, so for it to have a chance in this crowded field let’s hope the German manufacturer can bring this one in at a lower price, which it hasn’t announced yet. Full spec sheet after the jump.
