Picking up a book by a favorite author is usually — though, not always — a pretty good sign that you’ll enjoy, maybe even love, the book you’re starting. But what book did you expect to hate when you started it, but ended up loving all the same.
Was it a book you hated the first time around, only to re-read it a few years later, and adore it? Or, maybe you liked it from the start, but had been bored by that author’s previous work. It could be a book that introduced you to a new genre or a book whose reputation had you convinced that it wasn’t for you (until reading it told you a very different story.)
