We were drawn into Chris Yau’s short film A Space Dogyssey because of the charming animation featuring a sweet-faced dog aboard a spaceship. But it’s the end of the dog’s journey that really brought a smile to our faces.

Inspired in part by animation artists like Dice Tsutsumi and Robert Kondo, Yau made A Space Dogyssey as his fourth-year film at Sheridan College. Yau says, “It’s about where dogs really come from, their journey, and what does it all mean.” On the other hand, it could be seen as a film about exploration, and how any journey can seem epic when you have the right frame of mind.
