Amazon’s $79 per year Prime delivery service has passed its totally free Super Saver delivery in popularity. That’s, well, kind of a big deal.
Amazon Prime has been the best deal in tech for a while now, even while Amazon loses about $11 per year on each customer. But it’s kind of amazing that more people are paying 80 bucks a year than are using the totally free option.

The bump in popularity is probably due to Prime being more than just a two-day shipping subscription. It’s got a pretty good streaming selection that’s been improving, and is still cheaper than a Netflix streaming account. And it’s also on the vanguard for Amazon’s latest shipping ideas, like same-day local, and Amazon Locker. [TNW]
