There are something like 14,000 cabs in New York City that ferry millions of people around the day. So if the roads aren’t in tip top shape, someone’s going to hear about it. And that someone is the Department of Transportation’s pothole crew, which has the important job of filling in shoddy streets.

What’s it like to be one of the people on this team? For starters, you see lots of early mornings because you monitor some 6,000 miles of roads. And secondly, you deal with several tons of hot asphalt every single day. Think about it—since Hurricane Sandy, the team has repaired close to 30,000 potholes. It’s a dirty job and it’s a dangerous job, and we’re glad this crack team is doing it. [Tumblr Storyboard]
