Human Anatomy-Inspired Accessories Are the Stuff of Nightmares

Imagine walking down the street carrying a backpack that looked exactly like a human back. That would be creepy! And now, thanks the Ukranian designer Konstantin Kofta, you can do just that.

Kofta’s accessory lines—Hug, Born, and Roots—blend the practical with the uncanny in some sort of attempt to say something. What exactly? It’s incredibly unclear. For example, the Hug collection’s description reads:

We know nothing other than that which we can see and feel… Spirit does not have form, but some forms can have spirit, vibration does not have a color but color can have vibration, mood does not have a texture, but textures can have a mood. In this collection we focus for the first time more on feelings than just on physical forms and we have created forms, colors and textures according to these sensations.

That doesn’t make much sense, but it sure sounds arty.

The anatomy-inspired accessories from the collections are available at select boutiques around the globe. They’re also insanely expensive. The clutch with the praying hands, for instance, retails for $975. Regardless of the price, though, that backpack with the spine is pretty sweet. [designboom]
