You think that would snap some bones and make them splinter which would be bad for the meat.
But my grandpa used to pluck chickens and the rule was that you would cut off their head, and by the time they were done kickin, you had to be done pluckin or the feathers would stick in.
It would be horrifying if the chicken were still alive, I am just wondering what this does to the consistency of the meat.
There is an abundance of chicken being consumed in this country, you think your drumsticks just magically appear?
Don't get me wrong, I eat meat. Lets just get real about how your food goes from the farms to your plate people.
This is nothing. You should see your uncle open the shell of a sea turtle like a cooler alive when you're 7 years old. That is some horrifying shit, and I still remember the smell.
@Kaiser-Machead: Yeah, I had to clean deer when I was about 10. I know it's necessary and natural and whatnot, but cutting open a deer stomach and watching the organs fall out is just not good.
@Kaiser-Machead: Well, my father did a more humane thing and killed the turtle with boiling hot water on it first. It also helped with forcing it to evacuate all of its poop before going and ripping the shell out.
@Kaiser-Machead: I agreed once to help my uncle cook some crabs down on the beach by his house. Sounded fun. Then he had me rip the shell off, snap the poor little guy in half and sling his guts all over the sand before tossing him in the water. All while he was alive and fighting me for his life. My first one took awhile - poor guy suffered quite a bit.
It was a little traumatic, but they were delicious... I think everyone should have to kill their food once in their life.

In Carriacou, for example, they have great fun harpooning dolphins from their little boats.
