In a five-day survey that polled public and private organizations both large and small, Ponemon research found that 90% of the companies asked had been hacked in the las 12 months.

According to PC World:

In a new survey of 583 U.S companies conducted by Ponemon Research on behalf of Juniper Networks, 90% of the respondents said their companies' computers were breached at least once by hackers over the past 12 months.

Nearly 60% reported two or more breaches over the past year. More than 50% said they had little confidence of being able to stave off further attacks over the next 12 months.

80% of the companies surveyed also say that cyber attacks cost them at least $100,000 in the past year, with the top 20% of that group saying they spent upwards of a million dollars. 40% of respondents don't know where the attacks originated from. But don't fret, because I'm certain they'll assure you that the safety of your information matters to them, and they're doing all they can possibly do to keep that information safe. Or something like that. [Ponemon via PC World]
