Free Super Bowl LXI Streams: Channel 5, 7plus, and TVNZ+ Tested

Super Bowl LXI is on Sunday, February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Channel 5 has confirmed it will stream the game free in the UK. 7plus in Australia and TVNZ+ in New Zealand showed Super Bowl LX free and are streaming the 2026 season. In the US, ABC and ESPN air the game.

ABC is free with an antenna, and every US streaming option is paid. Each free stream checks for a local IP address. Channel 5, 7plus, and TVNZ+ unblocked on NordVPN, Proton VPN, and ExpressVPN in our October 2026 tests, but speeds on those countries’ servers differed widely.

• Kickoff: around 6:30 p.m. ET, which is 11:30 p.m. GMT in the UK, 10:30 a.m. AEDT on Monday in Sydney, and 12:30 p.m. NZDT on Monday in Auckland.
• US broadcast: ABC and ESPN simulcast the game, with the Manning brothers’ alternate broadcast (ManningCast) on ESPN2 and streams on the ESPN app, Disney+, and NFL+ on mobile.
• Previous game: the Seattle Seahawks beat the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl LX.

Download speeds on each country’s servers, measured from a Windows 11 PC in Europe on a 190.36 Mbps connection:

Australian figures come from each VPN’s fastest server there: Perth for NordVPN and Proton VPN, Sydney for ExpressVPN. Even ExpressVPN’s 20.99 Mbps Auckland result is enough for HD video. Channel 5’s streaming service, 5, requires a free account, and the sign-up form includes a UK postcode. 7plus also requires a free account. See our UK TV abroad guide for other British channels.

TVNZ+ was the slowest to use. Pages took five to six seconds to load and streams more than ten seconds to start on every VPN, and one ExpressVPN live stream took 35 seconds. Viewers closer to New Zealand should see faster loading. Sign-up requires an email, a name, a birth year, and a gender.

How to Watch the Super Bowl Free With a VPN

Watching Super Bowl LXI in the US

ABC over the air is the only free option in the US. Every stream of the game is paid:

• ESPN app: ESPN Unlimited costs about $32 a month and streams ABC and ESPN.
• Disney+: the ESPN tile streams the game for subscribers with an ESPN Unlimited bundle.
• Live TV services: YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, and Fubo include ABC and ESPN.
• NFL+: streams the game on phones and tablets.

Americans abroad can use these services on a US server. In our latest test, YouTube TV unblocked on Proton VPN and ExpressVPN and blocked NordVPN. ABC is a local channel on YouTube TV, so it plays only after a home area check, covered in our YouTube TV VPN guide. Paid Super Bowl Streams Outside the US

• DAZN NFL Game Pass: streams every game, the Super Bowl included, in most countries except the US and China, with prices that vary by country. A DAZN account keeps the catalog of its sign-up country: our existing account showed its original catalog on a Canadian server, and a new account made over that server showed Game Pass.
• Canada: CTV, TSN, and RDS show the game, and our Canadian TV abroad guide covers those channels from outside Canada.

DAZN played on a Roku Ultra and a Fire TV Stick over each VPN, though Proton VPN required dropping to HD to stay stable.

Best VPNs to Watch the Super Bowl for Free

1. NordVPN: Best for 7plus and TVNZ+

NordVPN measured 135.60 Mbps in Perth and 145.86 Mbps in Auckland, ahead of the other two on the servers for 7plus and TVNZ+. It unblocked every free stream and DAZN, though YouTube TV blocked it in our latest test. The one fault in our testing was on Windows: NordVPN sometimes wouldn’t connect with another VPN app installed, and signing in again fixed it.

2. Proton VPN: Best for UK Server Choice

Proton VPN spreads its UK network over London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cardiff, and Belfast, so switching servers mid-game is easy if one slows down. Its UK speed was 178.89 Mbps, and Channel 5, 7plus, TVNZ+, and YouTube TV unblocked on it. Its Perth server measured 79.97 Mbps, a 58.0% drop from our baseline and the slowest Australian result. After the first two years at $72, VPN Plus renews at roughly $84 a year.

3. ExpressVPN: Best for Channel 5 in the UK

ExpressVPN recorded 185.74 Mbps on its UK server, the fastest of the three for Channel 5. It also unblocked 7plus and TVNZ+. Prime Video UK’s NFL Game Pass page detected the app but unblocked through ExpressVPN’s browser extension. New Zealand was its weak spot.

The Auckland server measured 20.99 Mbps, and a TVNZ+ live stream took 35 seconds to start. For the Super Bowl, Channel 5 or 7plus is the better choice on ExpressVPN. ExpressVPN costs just under $3 monthly if you commit to 28 months of the Basic plan.

Can You Stream the Super Bowl With a Free VPN?

Possibly, on a UK server. Windscribe’s and PrivadoVPN’s free UK servers unblocked Channel 4 and BBC iPlayer in our tests, though we didn’t test Channel 5 on them. The free plans cap data at 10 GB a month. BBC iPlayer used about 650 MB per half hour at top quality in our test.

At that rate a four-hour broadcast uses roughly 5 GB. Proton VPN’s free plan chooses the server country itself, so it can’t reliably provide a UK, Australian, or New Zealand IP address. Our VPN free trial guide lists refund and trial terms.

Verdict

Super Bowl LXI should be free in three countries with English commentary, and a VPN server in any of those countries unblocks it abroad. Channel 5 is confirmed, and ExpressVPN recorded the fastest UK speed for it. NordVPN was the most consistent across the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, so a second free stream is ready on it if the first one fails. Proton VPN’s 849 UK servers help on Channel 5, but it was the slowest in Australia.
