Auto-txt is a car safety system that utilizes Bluetooth-enabled devices like cellphones and PDAs. The Bluetooth enabled device essentially becomes a second key to the car. The car will be automatically reported as stolen if the engine is started without the Bluetooth device in the vicinity.
Auto-txt is the first protection and tracking system to be awarded Thatcham's Category 5 accreditation—which is apparently pretty hot stuff. It will be used in select 2006 model Jaguars and Land Rovers throughout Europe with a more world-wide rollout coming in the future.
