It's been a big week for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, and the news just keeps rolling in. While listing his influences for this colorful space movie, director James Gunn revealed that he had hired legendary artist to design some spaceships for GOTG. Which, wow.

Over on his Instagram, Gunn highlighted one of the many influences that went into making this world. And just casually mentioned that they hired CHRIS FOSS to design spaceships! Yes, the hugely influential cover artist and concept artist, who worked on Jodorowsky's Dune and went on to work on Ridley Scott's Alien. See the post below:

The image at the top of this post is from previously released GOTG concept art, we don't have the specific artist to created these images, but the similarities are there (if you look at the original Foss work in the Instagram). Just gorgeous. Gunn also brought up the Foss connection during the facebook Q&A with the cast yesterday:

"Charlie Wood, our production designer, was one of my primary partners on this film. We started with long long discussions, lots of photos, and my love of the artist Chris Foss - who we actually hired to work on the movie. He's a classic science fiction artist from the 70s and 80s."

Welp, we didn't think it was possible to get even MORE excited about this film. And yet..
