Crowdfund this is back with another look at our favourite crowd-funding projects! Songgu Kwon's hilarious fantasy webcomic and a drive to support book reading among kids may lead the charge this week, but that's not all: there's card games, a Firefly reunion, and Gale Anne Hurd's next project too!

We've already spoken to Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk about their new series, and even though the project has smashed through its goals, you can still back it:
Wray Nerely (Alan Tudyk-Me!) was a co-star on Spectrum, a sci-fi series which was canceled - Too Soon- yet became a cult classic. Wray's good friend, Jack Moore (Nathan Fillion) starred in the series and has gone on to become a major movie star. While Jack enjoys the life of an A-lister, Wray tours the sci-fi circuit as a guest of conventions, comic book stores, and lots of pop culture events. The show will feature all the weird and crazy things that happen to Wray along the way to these events.
The series is a light-hearted take on the personalities, luminaries, and characters in the scifi community we are privileged to call ourselves members. Con Man is a way to share some of the surreal occurrences we have had, while telling the story of a guy learning to love and embrace his fans.
A smile $5 pledge gets you a gif of Tudyk and Fillion high-fiving, but meatier pledges offer the series VOD or on DVD with audio commentaries ($25), posters ($50) and T-shirts ($60).
This card-and-dice game sees you running a kingdom, defending it from monsters while you expand your cities and recruit citizens to join your ever-growing populace:
Vile monsters plague the kingdom of Valeria. Use Strength to slay minions like pesky Goblins... and beasts like the mighty Owlbear... to earn rewards. Then, defeat the boss in each area to clear the land and earn rewards based on the amount of monsters you've killed in that area.
Players start with 1 Peasant and 1 Knight. Throughout the game you and your friends will gather Gold to build a tableau of loyal citizens like the hard-working Butcher... the magical Paladin... or the brutal Mercenary.
In a single game, there are 10 different citizens to choose from, plus almost all of them have alternate cards with different characters and different effects… a total of 18 different citizens to choose from so every game will present you with different options and different challenges. No two games will be alike.
$10 gets you the files to print your own cards and rules out, while $29 gets you the full physical edition of the game.
A new project from The Walking Dead's Gale Anne Hurd and Valerie Red-Horse looks to tell the life of Wilma Mankiller, the first female Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation:
When history fails to preserve stories from our past and present, it's up to us to correct the record. Wilma Mankiller, the first woman elected Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, is omitted from most history books despite ranking among revolutionary leaders like Harriet Tubman or Eleanor Roosevelt. She was an activist and a champion to a nation – and it's time the world remembers her name.
MANKILLER is a documentary celebrating a leader who defied all odds to make a difference for her people. During a time when American Indians found themselves disenfranchised and undervalued by the United States at large, Wilma emerged as a champion of the Cherokee Nation and became its first female Principal Chief in 1985.
The subject is interesting enough alone, and a $20 pledge will get you access to stream the documentary online — but Hurd's involvement means some higher tier pledges are rewarded with items from the Walking Dead TV show, including signed DVDs ($85) and T-shirts ($30).
The long running Harry Potter Alliance has used the power of the Harry Potter fandom to rase money for a variety of causes over the years, and now they're running a crowdfunder to help their "Accio Books" campaign, an international book drive:
The Harry Potter Alliance turns fans into heroes. Our community of activists, nerds, avid readers, and pop culture enthusiasts has tackled all kinds of important issues, from marriage equality to ethical cocoa sourcing. However, few issues are closer to the heart of our community than literacy and education access. After all, a shared love of books brought us together in the first place, and the morals of the stories we love have guided our campaigns and priorities since 2005.
This campaign will fund our annual international book drive, Accio Books. Funds raised will allow us to coordinate a book drive spanning several continents, provide essential resources to our members and chapters, and plan book giveaway events at Operation Breakthrough in Kansas City, Missouri, and Borderline Books in the Netherlands.
A $10 pledge nets you membership access to the Apparating Library, the group's fan-generated book service that tours fandom events and conventions across the world.
This neat board game sees you managing a space station as it harvests and refines ore, running the manufacturing facilities as well as dealing with transport and crew facilities:
In Far Space Foundry, you will lead a team of pilots through two distinct phases - Space Foundry Alpha and Space Foundry Beta. At Space Foundry Alpha, you will manage the transit, storage, and processing of asteroid ore in your warehouse — all while swindling with the Galactic Traders and hiring the expertise of veteran pilots from the Alpha Cantina.
At Space Foundry Beta, you will utilize the ore you transported from Space Foundry Alpha to manufacture and charge finished products, as well as upgrade your fleet. The recruit that can best load their freighters to supply our peacekeepers on the front lines will lead our mission to success.
A $39 pledge nets you a copy of the game.
Songgu Kwon's frequently absurd, often hilarious experimental webcomic about a straight-laced Elven ranger (and her Wombat ally) has been running since 2012, and is now being gathered in a hardback collection:
Elf Book One will collect all of the comic pages from the web series and the rest of the current chapter, or story arc. Backers will be able to read the entire story to its end, even before it becomes available online.
In addition to 170 comic pages, the book will feature roughly 50 pages of pin-up and concept art galleries, including some that are entirely new or never before published.
$10 gets you the PDF version of the book, while $40 gets you the physical edition as well as the PDF.
