Dell on AMD by September?

Dell has refrained from using AMD chips for years, but just last month announced it would start using AMD processors in its servers. Now Citigroup analyst Glen Yeung says Dell will offer an AMD-based desktop in September:

"Citigroup Investment Research has confirmed from industry sources that Dell will offer an AMD based desktop in September of this year. No details of box configuration are available. We note that AMD has recently expressed confidence that they will gain share in the second half of the year, and we point to this win as the basis for this confidence."

We've been noticing behind the scenes some uncharacteristic belt-tightening going on internally at Dell. To save even more money, now the company can pit AMD and Intel against each other for an internal price competition between suppliers. Sounds just like Dell, inside and out.
