About Anno 117 Pax Romana

Anno 117: Pax Romana is a management and strategy game where the player has to build their city in the prosperity of the Roman Empire. It does not put you, like a game, directly into battles, but it goes slow-burning, showing you people, creating provinces, and developing a small settlement into an inhabited city.

Markets, neighborhoods, arenas, small streets with people and animals—everything is magnified and moves so real that cities no longer exist only as icons on a grid. It is not about walls and buildings only, but rather about balancing the chain of supply and demand of the population, as well as the political demands of Rome.

The game is played as a governor of several provinces. Others are central and easy to mold, such as Latium, and others are muddy, distant, and intractable, such as Albion. Unlike a conventional historical builder, who insists on expansion, Anno 117 presents development as a choice: can you either follow the local cultures, engage in trade, or dominate with Roman military rule? It is more of a governance simulator than a resource machine.

Why Should I Download Anno 117: Pax Romana?

Anno 117: Pax Romana is a new game in the Anno series, started in 1992 with Anno 1602. All games created from there were set in different timelines, and the graphics and decorations were made according to the era of the game. This last installment takes the player back to ancient Rome and the Roman Empire.

In Anno 117, as in previous Anno games, the details will be appreciated by players who like to see a city grow. Roads, dwellings, fields, and farms are transforming as living conditions improve. Churches are giving way to temples, muddy pathways giving place to stone roads. The unusual Roman setting in contemporary constructors also attracts players.

The decision-making between cultural peace and Roman supremacy is bizarre and is based on the manner in which real provinces used to conduct themselves. You are a nurturer and not a conqueror, unless you choose to conquer. The principal argument in its favor is flexibility. It is not a light investment: the game has high system requirements, large storage, and complex simulation, which require a powerful PC. Having a good system, you have crowded cities, naval battles, long economic curves, and the results of your ideology.

It may be daunting initially to new strategists, but slow learning turns out to be more than just superficial within a one-week playthrough. It can be of interest to the lovers of Anno 1800, Crusader Kings, or even Cities: Skylines. Some of them may not achieve it, but long-term managers can get so attached to their citizens. A project to optimize and experiment with is typically desired by downloaders; Anno 117 encourages slow thinking and experimentation and would better suit patient players, not the quick decision-chasers.

Is Anno 117: Pax Romana Free?

Annot. 117 is not a free title; it is a high-end purchase. It has to be purchased on PC or console; there is no permanent free-to-play. There are optional DLCs, and the Gold Edition can be purchased with the content of Year 1 at an additional price. The sales can be in the course of time; however, the game itself requires money to be played.

What Operating Systems Are Compatible with Anno 117: Pax Romana?

Anno117 is a 64-bit-only program. On PC, it needs Windows 10 or Windows 11 and CPUs with AVX2 support, but not older ones. The title is also available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but not on the consoles and handhelds of the previous generations.

Players require a Ubisoft account. Online functions such as co-op and PvP require an internet connection, and the game may be played in offline mode after the player authentication. The internet connection is necessary for cloud save, and thus, it is not possible to play offline.

What Are the Alternatives to Anno 117: Pax Romana?

Endless Legend 2 shifts to fantasy rather than pure historical realism. Contrary to Romans and Celts, you can see factions with distinct lore, biology, and magical settings. The rhythm is testy: seasons change power dynamics, and each group is different enough in playing to alter the general tone of the campaign. It does not simulate a strict city but rather adapts its stories—the weather influences supply routes, diplomacy can be unpredictable, and a non-violent route may exist, though it will never be certain. Should you desire a plan with fantasy, color, and surprise, Legend 2 is the antithesis of the real Roman design of Anno 117. You may simply download it if the fantasy tone appeals more than grounded realism.

Celestial Empire: Prologue is more East Asian imperial in its orientation, and it dwells on ancient infrastructures, farm cycles, and the administration of population. It is cleaner smoother in visual identity than the overpopulated life simulation of Anno 117. The Prologue version is a less intense version that provides a taste of managing a city without the intimidation of dozens of mechanics at the same time. This might be more of a meditative option for players who value the atmosphere, architecture, and strategic thinking. War is not a priority; the game is based on the creation of order and harmony, not on the preservation of power through armies or political influence. It is a good game that would please a player who does not want to risk an empire. Many players download the prologue first to test if the slower, calmer structure suits them.

The Fertile Crescent takes settings even further back through history, survival, tribes, and early civilization. It is smaller than Anno but has equal urgency in its resources. Human beings collect food, protect settlements, develop agriculture, and slowly develop organized societies. Strategy is not indirect, with internal workings or court politics. This one fits perfectly, in case you want something that begins primitive and evolves with the development of human beings. It is not meant to imitate Roman greatness but to demonstrate how humanity can be organized to that point. That is why it is a suitable alternative to the players who may be interested in earlier history and believe in simpler and more survival-oriented gameplay. If the early-human timeline feels more authentic, you can download it and compare the progression for yourself.
