Every Weird-Looking Tree Should Get A Beautiful Time Lapse Like This

The Yucca brevifolia, or Joshua tree, only grows in the southwest U.S., mostly in the Mojave Desert, so a lot of people don’t even know about the spike-y and pipecleaner-y weirdo.

And the Joshua tree population is declining due to environmental changes so filmmaker Sungjin Ahn wanted to make sure everyone could get a glimpse. Ahn spent a year in California’s aptly named Joshua Tree National Park shooting footage so he could capture different seasonal backdrops. The time lapse, “Joshua,” showed at the Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Fest in October. Love yourselves, Joshua Trees. You’re all perfect just the way you are. [Huffington Post]
