We each remember the events of 9/11 in our own way. Oftentimes, to cope, we use music. Fender, a company that knows a thing or two about that, is paying tribute and remembering with this set of custom Stratocasters.
The three electric guitars are one-of-a-kind musical memorials to the New York City Police Department, New York City Fire Department and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Each organization suffered terrible losses on the morning of September 11, 2001 when many of their members rushed into the World Trade Center Towers to rescue those who were trapped inside.
The guitars, created with inspiration from Minnesota firefighter Tommy Clarke, will tour with Eric Clapton during the fall portion of his 2011 world tour, after which Fender will donate them to the 9/11 first responder organizations. Clarke was at Ground Zero within 24 hours of the attack, collected pins badges and medals from the three first responder organizations affected by the event and used them as inspiration and decoration for the custom Strats.
