Last weekend at D23, Disney fans got an update on one of their most anticipated titles: Frozen 3, which got a sneak peek thanks to Walt Disney Animation Studios boss and Frozen co-director Jennifer Lee. Now we know exactly when in 2027 that return to Arendelle is coming, and the date won’t surprise anyone who eagerly hit theaters to see the first two Frozen films.
Frozen 3 will open November 24, 2027, according to Deadline. That’s the Wednesday before Thanksgiving as well as a near-repeat of the previous films’ debuts; the first Frozen arrived November 27, 2013, and Frozen 2—which just relinquished its crown as the top-grossing animated film of all time, thanks to Pixar’s Inside Out 2—opened November 22, 2019. (And yes, Frozen 4 is also in the works.)
If you missed it, here’s a glimpse of the concept art Lee shared at D23, depicting sisters Elsa and Anna and Olaf the snowman—plus an intriguing silhouette in the bottom corner. What inescapably catchy power ballad will underscore this scene and, a few months later, command Oscar attention? We’ll have to wait until 2027 to find out.
