Five pounds does not sound like very much. It’s a few days’ worth of binge dieting or cocaine abuse for some people. But it’s a lot to digest, as you can see from the five-pound burger above, or the five pounds of heroin found inside of a 52-year-old woman.
Bola Adebisi was arrested last week on suspicion of ingesting the 180 pellets of heroin that were found in her stomach at Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia. They were discovered when a routine patdown found her stomach to be “abnormally rigid.” An x-ray at a nearby hospital showed why.
The seized pellets have a street value of approximately $150,000. Their actual weight is 4 pounds 12 ounces, which is slightly less than a healthy newborn, but slightly more than three new iPads or 12 Samsung Galaxy Notes.
