With the list of well-known superheroes to turn into movie series rapidly depleting, looks like Marvel is turning to some lesser-known characters for movie inspiration. Next in line for development? Doctor Strange. But will he get the Doctor McDreamy treatment?
Last year screenwriters Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer were hired by Marvel to pen Doctor Strange's screenplay. And now the twosome has finished their strange epic, according to Twitch Film. And the website insists that Marvel is deadly serious about its Strange picture — in fact rumors have it that the two have sent in their script and the big bosses loved it so much they've already drafted a short list of directors to start courting. Once they find the right match, they're hoping to attach said director to "oversee continued development."
Should be interesting amongst a sea of Marvel superhero movies (The Avengers, Thor 2, Captain America 2, and Iron Man 3) to see if Doctor Strange (a relatively unknown character) can find his footing. Then again, Iron Man was relatively unknown by the mainstream media and public before his film took off as well — but we think RDJ might have had a little something to do with that.
