Fujifilm introduced three new cameras today, each with different levels of usability: the E900, the S5200, and the S9000. Of note is that two of them, the E900 and the S9000, finally broach the nine megapixel mark. All three support the RAW format, and all three feature "TV-quality" VGA movie recording.
The E900 is the baby of the three with its compact size, and will retail at $500. It sports a 4x optical zoom, sensitivity up to ISO 800, and a two inch LCD screen. It'll debut in Oct. 2005. Next is the S5200, which will go for $400 — cheaper than the E900, but it's only 5.1 megapixels. It's the third generation of Fujifilm's mini SLR-style digital cameras that feature fixed lens housing and a long zoom lens. It has pop-up flash, ISO sensitivity up to 1600, and anti-blur technology. It'll be in stores October 2005. The big daddy of them all, the S9000, is being marketed as a "bridge" camera that will supposedly rival entry-level digital SLRs. It features 10.7 zoom lens with twist-barrel technology, sensitivity range of ISO 80-ISO 1600, a tilting 1.8-inch LCD screen, an external hot shoe, and a dual memory card slot (for both CompactFlash/MicroDrive and xD memory cards). Retail price of the S9000 is $700 and will be available in September 2005.
