I still can’t believe this isn’t a Roland Emmerich movie.
It should be, right? It’s got the destruction of landmarks on a massive scale, a cast of thousands, and someone giving dire warnings that — just guessing — won’t be heeded until it’s too late. And as have the Emmerich films, so does this one have a cast full of talents that give you the tiny hope that this film will be better than it is:

Carla Gugino
Colton Haynes
Archie Panjab
Ioan Gruffudd
Will Yun Lee
Paul Giamatti
Also, Kylie Minogue will be there.
I love/hate this movie so much. Nothing cheers me up quite like seeing something happen that I spent my whole childhood preparing for — a giant California earthquake — be depicted in such an amazingly unrealistic way. I swear, in one shot I can see my old apartment building crumble into pieces.
May 29th is so far away.
