Okay, now this is clever. Paul Bettany, the voice of Jarvis (Tony Stark's AI butler) for all three Iron Man movies has been cast to play the Vision, the ass-kicking android and frequent member of the Avengers. Which means Jarvis is about to go sentient. Awesome.
Baz Bamigboye was first to report this scoop, stating that they had seen Bettany around Shepperton Studios where Avengers: Age of Ultron will be filming. And he was allegedly there for makeup tests to make his skin "chalk white." This is a big deal as if he was only playing Jarvis, the only thing Marvel would ever really need from Bettany is his voice. Variety later confirmed the rumor that yes, Bettany will portray the Vision on-screen.
The Vision has had quite the history in the comics; the android was originally created by Ultron as a weapon to destroy the superhero team, which is why it makes perfect sense for the character to appear in Age of Ultron. Eventually the sentient android is convinced by the Avengers to switch sides, although it's very possible this will be a slightly more difficult task in the movie. It's exceptionally cool, because we've been predicting the evolution of Jarvis to the Vision for months! Happy it's finally coming true!
