The fate of Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Daniel H. Wilson’s robot-uprising novel Robopocalypse has been up in the air for a while, but now it seems to be settled. Spielberg has secured financing from not one, but two studios to make the huge-budget feature.

DreamWorks and 20th Century Fox announced they’re co-producing the film, with Spielberg definitely confirmed to direct it himself. And Drew Goddard, writer of Cloverfield and Buffy the Vampire Slayer among other things, will adapt Wilson’s novel into a screenplay.

So it’s good to know that summer 2013 has one more huge tentpole production to look forward to.
