Back in 1989, during the annual Macy’s Day Thanksgiving Parade, an actor impersonating Jack Nicholson’s Joker from Tim Burton’s Batman rode a parade float and sang a little song. Which is pretty fucked up, if you think about it.
Normally the Macy’s Day parade is dominated by SpongeBob balloons and unrecognizable “pop stars.” But during the year of Tim Burton’s Batman, something truly spectacular happened. The success of the June superhero movie inspired a Joker Macy’s Day float, where an actor recreated that horrifying scene in the movie where the Joker lures Gotham’s citizens out with free money, and them gases them all to death. But what’s even worse about this parade appearance is the singing. Dear god the singing.
No WAY could the Macy’s people get away with this today, we tip our hats to this amazing bit of WTFery. Here’s the clip from the original movie, sans terrible impressions.
