What do you think of when you hear the words "zombie cologne"? Probably that it's some kitschy perfume with a gross smell, likely to be given as a gag gift, made to capitalize on the zombie craze right? Understandable... but wrong. Now watch and learn if you want to live.

Chemist Raychelle Burks of Nebraska's Doane College has created a "death cologne" to help mask the sent of the living from the animate dead. She shows you how in this video from the Reactions YouTube channel, which is produced by the American Chemical Society. Hey, remember how in season one of The Walking Dead Rick and the others were able to walk around amongst the zombies by coating themselves in the blood and viscera of the dead? Same principle. (Also: Why the hell has no one ever done that again? It seems like such a smart move).

So those of you wisely stocking up on canned goods and bottled water for the day when the dead walk the earth should be advise to add cadaverine, putrescine, and methanethiol to your shopping lists. And I highly recommend writing this shit down.
